Startup Wednesdays

by Namita Bhasin on November 1, 2008

Last night was the inaugural Startup Wednesday. The goal of Startup Wednesdays is to provide a low-key friendly place for the Berkeley entrepreneurial crowd to meet, mingle, and of course eat more unhealthy food than they already do. It was held at La Val’s (on the north side of campus, where all the nerdy activity happens) and sponsored by the very generous Alsop Louie Partners.

Turnout was good for the first week – somewhere between 15 and 20 people came by, all in all, and among them was strong representation from a variety of Berkeley startup companies. Attendees included folks from:

Alsop Louie Partners
Morgenthaler Ventures
Wolfire Games
(currently taking orders for their incredibly awesome new game, Overgrowth)
AutoTagger (automatically tags your photos, try them out on Facebook)
Kinfo (a place for families to keep in touch and share their memories)

And a couple of companies still in stealth mode *insert mysterious music*. If you’re curious as to what they’re doing, the only way to find out is to start coming…

Startup Wednesdays will be held – surprise, surprise – every week, 7pm, at La Val’s. If you’re with a startup in Berkeley, going to launch one, or are simply a diehard groupie of the startup scene, go check it out next week!
